Fresh Start Writers Group

In the winter months of 2006 group of older people met at St. John's Church Hall in Brigg in response to a proposed writers group.  THey all expressed an initial desire to reflect their own childhood in any written work and it was decided to write stories and poems for children.

The group led by children's author and journalist, David Stansfield, then moved to Horsefair Paddock where they were kindly offered space to meet.

A small number of new group members were made very welcome and the quality of work produced by all contributors is testiment to the fact that older people have so much to offer yoiung children.  The group would like to share its work with everyone.  New stories and poems will be added to the files page regulalry so the Grandparents and even Mums and Dads, can download them to read to their children or grandchildren.

FreshStart is committed to publishing an Anthology of Children's Stories and Poems.  This should be avialable in Autumn.

The group is to work with Wrawby Primary School in June where Year 5 pupils will provide illustrations fro some of the stories and poems.  This will fulfill one of the main aims of the group and that is to interact with children who the see as our future.

To look at some of the stories and poems so far please go to the files page to download them.
